How to add a contract
Every commercial agreement you have with a vendor - MSAs, DPAs, order forms, NDAs - normally lives scattered across email, a shared drive, or someone's inbox, which is exactly why renewal dates get missed and nobody can answer "what's our liability cap with this vendor" without digging. The Contracts module gives you one place to hold every agreement per client, and AI extraction means you don't have to retype a 20-page PDF by hand to get it there - drop the file in and RiskBee turns it into a structured, reviewable record in seconds.

Option A - upload a PDF for AI extraction
1. Drop the PDF in
Go to Contracts and drop a contract PDF onto the upload zone at the top of the page (or click it to browse). It appears in the table right away with a "Processing" status while AI reads it.
2. AI extracts the terms
It pulls out the title, contract type (MSA, SOW, DPA, NDA, order form), effective, end and renewal dates, auto-renew and notice period, annual value, liability cap, key terms, and any risk flags it spots in the clauses.
3. Review before it goes active
Status flips to "Needs review" - open the row to check the extracted fields, correct anything the AI got wrong, and confirm or fix which vendor it's linked to (match an existing vendor, create a new one, or leave it unassigned for now).
4. Save
Saving moves it to "Active." If extraction fails on a bad scan or unreadable file, the row shows as a "Failed" card with Retry or Delete options instead.
Option B - add one manually
1. Click Add contract
Opens a form instead of waiting on AI to read a file - useful for agreements you don't have a clean PDF for, or ones you just want logged quickly.
2. Fill in the details
Vendor, title, contract type, billing cadence, a free-tier toggle (for the subscriptions and free tools still worth tracking at $0), effective/end/renewal dates, auto-renew, notice period in days, annual value and currency, notes, and - if it came through a reseller or marketplace - the procurement channel and reseller name, domain and contact.
3. Save
It's active immediately since there's nothing to extract or review.
Using the All contracts table
Filter the list with the pills at the top - All, Needs review, Active, Renewing soon, or Expired. Each row shows the vendor (linking through to its record), title, contract type, annual value, the renewal date with a days-remaining badge, and status. Click a row any time to reopen the review panel, or use the row menu to Open or Delete it.
What's next
Once a contract is active, its renewal date feeds the renewal command center automatically, and any clauses worth tracking on an ongoing basis can become obligations.
