Tracking contract obligations
Signing a contract is the easy part - the harder part is everything it commits you to afterwards: an annual pen test report a vendor owes you, a quarterly access review, a breach notification window you promised a client. Those commitments don't show up on a calendar on their own, and once a contract is filed away they're the first thing to get forgotten. Obligations turns those clauses into individual, trackable to-dos with a due date and an owner, separate from the contract record itself.

Auto-extract from a contract
1. Open Extract from PDF
From a specific contract (or a vendor's contracts), click "Extract from PDF" - the Sparkles button.
2. AI reads the commitments
It creates an obligation row for each commitment it finds, links to existing evidence documents where one already covers it, and opens a task automatically for any evidence gap it can't fill.
3. Check the summary
A confirmation toast tells you what happened - for example, "Extracted 4 obligations, linked 2 evidence docs, opened 1 evidence task."
Add one manually
1. Click Add obligation
Available from the Obligations tab, or from within a specific contract or vendor's own obligations panel.
2. Fill in the details
Pick the contract (skipped if you're already inside one), then add a title, description, cadence, next due date, severity, and an optional clause reference (e.g. §7.2) so you can trace it back to the contract text.
3. Save
It shows up in the list immediately, filterable and trackable like any AI-extracted obligation.
Working the list
Filter by status - Open, In progress, Done, Waived, or All. Each row shows the obligation (with a sparkle icon if it was AI-generated, plus its clause reference), which contract and vendor it belongs to, its cadence (one-time, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, on renewal, or on incident), the next due date (shown in red if overdue), and status. Use the row's ⋯ menu to mark it Done, move it to In progress, Waive it (acknowledge it without completing it), or Delete it.
Where obligations come from
Obligations are always attached to a contract, so start with how to add a contract if you don't have the underlying agreement in RiskBee yet.
